Free2Move Carsharing expands into Arlington VA

• Service provides customers access to Free2Move’s fleet of 600 vehicles currently serving all eight wards of Washington, D.C.
• Expanded service includes Rosslyn, Crystal City, Pentagon City and areas bordering Reagan National Airport.
• Free2Move’s expanded service will provide Arlington customers “in-area” and “commuter” availability.

PSA’s Free2Move Carsharing Service’s rapid growth in Washington, D.C. since its launch in November, 2018 has spurred the expansion of its network into Arlington, VA. Free2Move provides on-the-street mobility services and currently has more than 20,000 registered members in the area, representing 2.5% of the Washington, D.C. population.

“The growth into Arlington underscores the positive customer acceptance we’ve experienced in our launch market,” said Nicholas Hill, chief operating officer, Free2Move. “Our network will allow customers more mobility options – from commuting in and around the Arlington area to personalizing their transportation requirements in and out of D.C.”

With Amazon’s recent announcement outlining their plans to move 25,000 employees into the Arlington area, Free2Move’s mobility network promises to provide necessary mobility options to a growing populace.

Free2Move Carsharing fields a 600-vehicle fleet, consisting of 200 Chevy Equinox vehicles, as well as 400 Chevy Cruze sedans—catering to the city commuter, as well as the weekend traveler. As a “free-floating” business model (compared to a “station-based” model) Free2Move vehicles are strategically positioned on city streets, as compared to station-based vehicles which are located in parking lots and garages. This positioning allows consumers to more conveniently and efficiently access Free2Move vehicles, increasing time efficiency and decreasing costs associated with transitioning in and out of the vehicles.

Free2Move Carsharing is an extension of PSA’s global Free2Move brand, which provides mobility solutions in 12 countries via 65,000 vehicles to over 1.3 million customers.
